A black man, Andre Hayworth, is kidnapped while walking via a suburb late into the evening. Several weeks later, black professional photographer Chris Washington and the white-colored girlfriend Rose Armitage have a weekend visit to meet Rose’s parents, neurosurgeon Dean and mental health specialist/hypnotherapist Missy, and her brother Jeremy. Chris is disturbed in what he perceives as strange behavior in the black groundskeeper and housekeeper, Walter and Georgina, which night, is asked by Missy to speak about his mother, who died inside a hit-and-run as he was eleven.
